How to Prepare Your Home Before the Painters Arrive

We handle all the surface preparation, masking and protection ourselves, but there are a few things you can do beforehand that make the job smoother and faster. Faster jobs mean fewer labour hours, which can show up in the quote.

Clear the rooms where you can

Move small furniture, lamps, rugs, books and ornaments out of the rooms being painted. Anything too heavy to shift can be moved to the centre of the room and covered, and we will do that on the day if you would rather leave it to us.

Take down wall hangings

Pictures, mirrors, shelving and curtains all need to come off the wall. Let us know if you want existing hooks and screw holes filled and painted over, or left in place for the same fittings to go back up.

Clear access outside

For exterior work, trim back plants growing against the walls, move outdoor furniture and pots away from the house, and make sure we can get ladders or access equipment around the property. Also let us know about pets, gates and anything fragile in the garden.

Sort out colours before we start
